Sales Tracker Template
Know what sells, where and when. Log each order with the date, customer, product, channel and quantity: the unit price fills in from your product list and the line total is calculated, discount included.
The Products sheet shows units sold, revenue and gross profit for each item, and By month shows orders, revenue and average order value across the year with a chart. It suits online shops, Etsy and Amazon sellers, market stalls and service businesses.
What's included
- Order log with product and channel drop-down lists
- Unit prices pulled automatically from your product list
- Revenue and gross profit per product, with a bar chart
- Monthly orders, revenue and average order value, with a chart
- Room for 100 orders per sheet, and more rows whenever you need them
How to use it
- List your products with price and unit cost on the Products sheet.
- Set the year on the Sales sheet.
- Log each order with date, customer, product, channel and quantity.
- Add a discount where you gave one.
- Check Products and By month to see your best sellers and busiest months.
Using your sales data
Look at gross profit, not just revenue. A product that sells a lot at a thin margin can earn less than a smaller seller with a healthy one.
Compare channels. Marketplace fees on Amazon or Etsy can take 10 to 20% of the price, so the same product may be far more profitable through your own store.
Keep the file for your Schedule C or bookkeeping. Totals by month make quarterly estimated tax payments easier to work out. Sales tax depends on your state and your nexus, so check what you need to collect.
Frequently asked questions
Is this sales tracker free?
Yes. Download and use it for your business with no sign-up.
Can I change the sales channels?
Yes. Edit the drop-down list in the Channel column under Data validation.
What if I sell the same product at a different price?
Type the price over the formula in the Unit price cell for that order. The rest of the calculations still work.
How do I start a new year?
Save a copy, clear the order rows and change the Year cell. Products and their prices stay in place.
